Friends of Grinling Gibbons
If your child attends Grinling Gibbons, you are now a friend! Parents and carers can get involved in school life in various ways and parents’ views are always valued and welcomed.
In recent times, our parents have raised funds and volunteered their time to put together memorable events for the school, and their support is always vital towards the success of these events. Last year, for example, some of our parents renovated our school library, turning it into the bright and cheerful place it is today.
Weekly coffee mornings are an opportunity for all parents and carers to make new friends, to keep up with current events, and to share their views. But, we always need a helping hand, so we would love to hear from you.
Other ways to support our school
As well as being a ‘Friend of GG’, there are many other ways in which parents can support the school and the children’s learning. Most importantly, it is really helpful when you support your child in coming to school on time every day and making sure they are ready to learn.
You help best when you share your child’s learning experiences by talking to them about their day and supporting them with their home learning, especially reading. Our more able readers are almost always the children that read at home daily with their parents.
We also welcome parent help during the school day and on school trips. This may be spending time with one class and supporting their learning or hearing different children read. Contact your child’s teacher is you think you may be able to give some time in this way.
