LINKS WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
In February 2020, Cal Byrne, our nursery teacher, and artist, held a solo exhibition entitled ‘Good Days Bad Days’, at the local venue – ‘Deptford Does Art.’ The exhibition comprised 700 portraits drawn over the preceding 700 days.
Year 3 at Tate Britain
In 2019, our school took part in the Year 3 at Tate Britain project, where Turner Prize-winning artist Steve McQueen invited all Year 3 children in London to be photographed in school with their teachers, as a ‘hopeful portrait of a generation to come.’ Explored through the vehicle of the traditional school class photograph, this vast new artwork is one of the most ambitious portraits of children ever undertaken in the UK. The work will be displayed in the gallery from November 2019 to 3rd May 2020.
