Teacher Training

Grinling Gibbons has a close relationship with the University of Greenwich and regularly have students joining us for work experience.  Some of whom have previously been interviewed and have gained employment at the school.

Comments from PGCE students from University of Greenwich after doing work experience at Grinling Gibbons.

“I have found my experience at Grinling Gibbons to be a truly enjoyable one.

I have never met such a welcoming, approachable, helpful and fun faculty. They made all of us feel as though we were a part of the Grinling Gibbons team.

Also, the students at Grinling Gibbons are truly fantastic. They are polite, studious and have a real thirst for learning.

I shall miss Grinling Gibbons and I am sad that my experience couldn’t have lasted longer.

Thank you for the support and opportunity to observe/work in such a fantastic school.”

“My time and experience within Grinling Gibbons Primary School was an absolute joy. From the moment I arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly, and exceptionally helpful towards me. It had a calming effect upon me, and allowed me to feel comfortable within the school.

The children at the school are what make the school so enjoyable. There is a variety of characters and personalities among the school, and every single one of the children showed respect towards me. They also were so friendly and welcoming, spending time with me, talking to me and really engaging and interacting with me. They were a pleasure to be around, and I know I will miss them and remember many of them.

The whole school is a community school, and it has a community atmosphere to it, eager to welcome new people, and allow them to feel part of their community, by joining in with the extra curricula activities and within the classrooms. It was a pleasure being in the school, and being able to be a part of their community.

Thank you very much for an enjoyable beginning to my PGCE. I really do appreciate everything that you and the teachers have done for myself and the others with me, and really wish you and the school all the best.”

“Thank you for making my time at Grinling Gibbons Primary School both enjoyable and supportive. You have all been very welcoming, and I felt part of the team. Among other things, I was involved in reading a book to class and led an art activity which was a fantastic opportunity. I am also grateful to the staff who found time within their busy schedule to talk to us and share their expertise which helped us to learn more about the children and their needs.”

The first thing that struck me when I visited Grinling Gibbons Primary School, was how polite and respectful the children were, I was really impressed. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the wonderful teachers here at Grinling Gibbons. The school is rich with diversity, culture, respect and a “children come first” mentality. It has set high standards for the next school I visit.
