In Year 6 we have been learning non-stop! Here are some examples of what we’ve been up to:
Chinese New Year day
We celebrated Chinese New Year on the last day of half term. Each class went around the school doing many different festive fun activities including: story telling, cultural dancing, origami and learning about the zodiac signs. Overall, we had a fun day full of interesting activities and now know some great facts. Come and ask us about them!
Science – The Heart
This term, we’ve been learning about the heart. We wrote some amazing explanations and drew some excellent diagrams. Did you know your heart is the size of a clenched fist? It is a muscular organ that pumps blood to your body. We have also been learning about pulse rates. Recently we conducted an experiment to figure out if exercising will change our pulse rate. We did activities such as star jumps, jogging on the spot, push ups and stand still. Then we checked if the pulse rate was different from the start and the end. To keep the tests fair, we made sure we timed them and had a break to get our heart rates back to normal in between.
We are focusing on our SATS preparation this term. We’ve done many practice tests so we are ready for the real test. In addition to this, we have had extra booster groups after school and before school to help us in maths, reading and grammar. We are hoping to do the school proud as our teachers are putting in 100% effort and so are we!
