Year IV tackle Roman Numerals

Nov 1, 2017 | Year 4

We have had a great start to the Autumn term as we are refreshed and ready for learning. We have been exploring Roman numerals and grasping a strong understanding of place value before we begin using different methods of adding and subtracting.

Reading and Role Play

We have been reading ‘The Borrowers’ by Mary Norton. We have been linking our comprehension and writing to the story. We have done role play and re-told parts of the story.

Pod had just taken the children (Arrietty & Pod) out of the bucket and they went their separate ways. Pod went to borrow a battery, whilst Arrietty and Pod wondered off around the kitchen.

Arrietty went into the freezer and had her brother, Pea Green, hold the freezer open with a lolly stick while she secretly ate the ice-cream.

The hoover was unexpectedly turned on. Pea Green did not put his belt on quick enough and got sucked up to the ceiling. When the hoover turned off he fell on top of the table.

We can’t wait to finish the book so we can find out what happens next!
